Chicago established as WiredScore’s latest flagship market

WiredScore, known for its global leading rating system for technological capacity in commercial buildings, recently announced its official launch in Chicago as a flagship market.
Since its began operating in 2013, WiredScore expanded the Wired Certification platform to six countries. The company selected Chicago as a flagship city to address the local demand for the technology benchmark following the successful expansions in Atlanta and Toronto. Some of the most technology-oriented and innovative landlords and developers have expressed interest in Wired Certification—the international platform that rates office buildings’ connectivity and technological capacity.
“Chicago is proud to welcome WiredScore into our offices, buildings, and businesses,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in a statement. “Today’s announcement underscores our continued commitment to creating new technology to foster growth, support innovation and drive entrepreneurship throughout every corner of our city.”
601W Companies, 625 W. Adams LLC, Ascentris, Beacon Capital Partners, EQ Office, Farpoint Development, GlenStar Asset Management, Golub & Company, Hines, The John Buck Company, KBS, Mark Goodman & Associates Inc., MetLife Investment Management, Riverside Investment & Development Company, Walton Street Capital, and Zeller Realty Group are among the partners that have committed to Wired Certification for their Chicago office properties.
A well-connected office is crucial for all Chicago businesses to operate successfully—especially given the city’s competitive talent landscape. According to The Value of Connectivity, a new Radius Global report that surveyed office leasing decision makers throughout the 10 largest U.S. metro areas, including Chicago, office tenants recalled increased stress levels, frustration helping customers and lower productivity when connectivity issues interfered with their work.
The report also revealed that 77% of leasing decision makers confirmed poor connectivity impacted the company’s profitability. Because of this, tenants ranked Internet quality as their second highest priority after location when they look for office space. Wired Certification will allow Chicago businesses to find office buildings that have the best connectivity infrastructure to help their companies stay online and remain productive.
All throughout Chicago, the city’s most innovative landlords and developers are embracing Wired Certification as a way to “future proof” their office assets across all real estate classes. In total, 23 Chicago properties that comprise more than 26 million square feet of commercial space have committed to Wireless Certification, including; 1 North Dearborn (Beacon Capital Partners & MetLife Investment Management), Willis Tower (EQ Office), 6300 River Road (Farpoint Development), The 300 (Golub & Company), River Point (Hines), 141 W Jackson (GlenStar Asset Management), 151 North Franklin (The John Buck Company), The Sangamon (Mark Goodman & Associates, Inc.), and 100 North Wacker (Riverside Investment & Development Company).
“We are excited to establish Chicago as our Midwestern flagship market and to bring the importance of digital connectivity to the forefront of conversations around future-proofing office assets,” Christine Torres, WiredScore’s Head of Chicago said in a statement. “Whether it’s an historically significant building like The Wrigley Building or a development coming out of the ground today, it is essential that buildings can deliver a reliable, resilient and robust digital infrastructure to support the business needs of Chicago occupiers.”
