It’s been a fantastic year, thanks to all of you!
I would be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to thank everyone who made 2019 a prosperous and successful year for us at Connected Real Estate Magazine and Fifth Gen Media.
The support that you have shown by reading our magazine as well as following us digitally and on social media has been humbling and most appreciated. Your support for our sponsors, advertisers and cooperators has been wonderful, too. All of this sprung from an idea less than three years ago.
What is the formula that created this buzz for what we are doing? It included lots of travel and meeting people at events all over the country. The formula also included incredible amounts of airplane time and putting our magazines on seats at events where CRE types assemble. And we can’t forget about all of the unreturned phone calls along with the calls that helped create a love connection where we put two parties together. In a nutshell, it was hard work from my team, our advisory board and all of the folks who supported us during 2019. To all of you I say, THANKS.
Going forward there is much that we intend to do to improve OUR brand and keep the momentum going. The year 2020 brings our first event beyond our fabled dinner events as we are doing a co-located event with ITEXPO in Florida in February, called the Connected Real Estate Summit. At press time I am pleased to announce that Rudin Management COO John Gilbert will take part in a panel and a luncheon keynote. Also we have just added Marc Ganzi (see story on Page 4) CEO of Digital Colony and CEO Elect of Colony Capital to the event as a keynote speaker. We are awaiting responses from the who’s who of CRE, but have Sandy Jacolow from Meridian, Ken DiScipio from Tavistock Realty, Darlene Pope of WeWork and Marc Gittleman, Chairman of BOMA Los Angeles confirmed along with a great group of speakers and panelists at the event. Look for our Connected Real Estate Summit ad in this edition to register, sponsor or request a speaking role.
What’s driving all of the interest by the real estate community about the communications technology and how it will impact their digital future? I know I keep beating this drum, but all of the billions being poured into proptech investments cannot be maximized without attention to the underlying connectivity, cybersecurity and overall access to these platforms. It is the immense amount of new communications technologies, frequency bands, strategies, etc. that have piqued savvy CRE leaders’ interest as they dig in and find out what they mean for their future. It’s also the dawn of the 5G era along with the landlords’ ability to run their own private LTE networks using CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service), the explosion of IoT (Internet of Things) as a real money saving tool, digital electricity and more. Our role here is to educate, communicate and spread the gospel of things like CBRS, DAS platforms, cell boosters, fiber and so much more.
Thank you again and please feel free to communicate with my team and me if you have questions or thoughts.
All the best,
