Athonet, BearCom team up to bring private LTE, 5G and CBRS to key industries

Athonet, a private network technology provider and BearCom, a wireless integrator, recently announced that they will work together to deliver private LTE, 5G, and Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) solutions a number of sectors across North America.

BearCom designs and delivers wireless voice, video and data communication integration solutions geared toward boosting operating efficiency, increasing safety and reducing digital inequality. Meanwhile, Athonet brings 4G and 5G mobile core solutions to customers and partners around the globe and supports industries that rely on network control, mobility, security and performance to garner favorable business outcomes.

The companies plan to deliver private LTE proof-of-concepts and installations to the education, healthcare, Industry 4.0 and other industries that are seeking wireless solutions that can bring cellular coverage benefits such as security, reliability and capacity into the enterprise.

“When developing a private network, our customers rely on us to provide a mobile core that is proven, reliable and secure,” BearCom Chief Technology Officer Mike Owen said in a statement. “Athonet has delivered thousands of LTE, 4G/5G and CBRS mission-critical networks across the globe in the same verticals where we are focused.”

Athonet and BearCom recently installed a private LTE network using CBRS for the Fort Worth Independent School District in Texas. Athonet’s EPC LTE mobile core was deployed onsite at the school district’s data center. Meanwhile, system integrator BearCom brought in other vendors, which supplied the Spectrum Access System, home routers, CBRS eNodeBs (CBSDs) and radio access network (RAN) software for the network. The new private LTE network is expected to support up to 4,000 students.

“Organizations are beginning to understand the benefits of private networks but need an integrator that can bring all the vendors together to deliver business results,” Simon O’Donnell, president, Athonet USA, said in a statement.

BearCom and Athonet presented at Enterprise 5G East in Atlanta on April 26 and 27.
